There is a wealth of varied and delicious dining establishments in Rutland to choose from but here are just a few of our favourites that are mentioned in the Michelin Guide 2019 for pubs worth dining in.
The Wheatsheaf, being our nearest, must be congratulated for creating a wonderful mix of great local food, fantastic service within a friendly, informal atmosphere; just make sure you are hungry when you visit.
Also in the guide this year are The Olive Branch in Clipsham and The Finch’s Arms in Hambleton again a visit to each of these lovely pubs guarantees a most enjoyable eating experience. It is well worth the drive up to the Finch`s Arms at Hambleton to appreciate the stunning views over Rutland Water (perhaps having had a brisk walk around the peninsula first to work up an appetite!)
For other local pubs you could try the Berkeley Arms in Wymondham which has been awarded a bib gourmand and The Marquess of Exeter in Lyddington also won’t fail to disappoint.
If you are heading over to Stamford then you could try, The George Hotel or the Wicked Witch at Rhyall.
Hambleton Hall at Hambleton has One Michelin Star led by head Chef Arron Patterson.
This is certainly the place to go to celebrate a special occasion or to push the boat out. The food is exquisite and the service impeccable. Hambleton Hall has the longest retained star in the UK, having held its Michelin Star since 1982.
We must also make mention of our very own “local” The Sun Inn, which specialises in real ale and traditional home cooked English fayre and is a favourite of many of our guests. All of our guests comment on how friendly it is in there, and it is always one of the most popular destinations for our visitors, especially as it is within easy walking distance!
