Halifax survey awards Rutland a 3rd place ranking for best place to live.

Rutland is England’s smallest county, known locally and more affectionately as the small county with the big pond. The county maybe small, but it does however live up to its motto Multum in Parvo (much in little).

Rutland Water offers a multitude of leisure activities including water sports the Rutland Belle, cycling, fishing, bird watching and is home to Rutland Osprey Project . Rutland’s many attractive villages, set in the wonderful English countryside, are home to picture postcard cottages and traditional country pubs.

With such beautiful landscapes and villages it is no wonder locations in and around Rutland have been immortalized in film and TV productions such as Pride and Prejudiced , Les Miserable and more recently the moving and true life story of a local resident in the production of Starfish.

As well as Rutland water you’re never short of things to do or places to visit in Rutland. If you are a keen gardener you may wish to visit Barnsdale Gardens or why not visit one of England’s few remaining fully operational nineteenth-century windmills Whissendine windmill for example.

Nearby historic towns like Uppingham offer antiques and galleries, whilst the county town of Oakham has a great mix of quality high street and independent shops - and not forgetting to mention Oakham Castle!

If you’re still not convinced ! Come and visit us and find out why the Halifax quality of life survey places Rutland as the 3rd best place to live !
